friendship is an involuntary reflex

"friendship is an involuntary reflex, it just happens - you can't help it" - ted mosby, how i met your mother.

sebastian and i took a road trip to yong peng yesterday. darian's grandmother had passed away and he asked me to attend the funeral. and i begged sebastian to come with me so i would have some company (and well, only someone with a heart as good as his would even consider my proposition).

i really enjoyed myself. camera-whoring at tuas causeway because of the wait, camera-whoring at the petrol station just after tuas causeway, the drive (which was really smooth), reaching yong peng, meeting darian's family, checking in at the hotel (which should be called a motel, or an inn...but seb and i did all right. i've been in worse).

then dinner with darian at the fuzhou place - 3 of us, 8 dishes...fuzhou noodle, fuzhou fishball soup, fuzhou egg soup, sambal kang kong, hong zhao wine chicken, hong shao pork ribs, harloc (prawns), otak. it was sooo yum!!

following dinner, we went shopping!! nothing much to crow about because it was yong peng. and we were at econ safeway or something. but we bought heaps! hahaha. i think that's when darian and seb started to get along...which was a relief! hahaha. settled back down at the hotel for a short while before heading back for the wake. kinda awkward for me, but darian was a fantastic host. it must be been one and a half hours before we decided to get seb (who declined to come for the wake) and head off for supper. super yummy bak kut teh and super expensive yong tau foo!!

then we all went back to rest. seb and i chatted late into the night. which was nice. and we overslept to darian's displeasure. checked out in a huff and went straight for the funeral because the service was starting. i sat through with darian (while seb decided against coming). the funeral was...hmmm...interesting to say the least. i declined to join the funeral procession.

then seb and i went back to the fuzhou restaurant for lunch because i was craving the prawns and pork ribs. i am craving them right now as i type. heh. then grabbed some stuff for yujie. and we headed back to singapore!!

on the way back, sebastian chu sze yee said something extremely profound. he said that if the whole of malaysia were singapore, then we'd be like the united states by now. it was such a profound statement. alternative historians have never written history but this is something worth thinking about. stay tuned on ACheadlines, where i will be expounding upon it.

seb, i cannot thank you enough for coming. i know u found it boring. but it would have been dreadful for me if i were all alone. this has knocked ac zone thanksgiving down to number three on the list and become the second nicest thing u've ever done for me. thank you thank you thank you. do u remember number one?

darian, firstly, deepest sympathy and sincere condolences at your loss. hope u're feeling all right. thank you for being an awesome host in yong peng! yong peng is yong peng...but u made it really fun. as always, u have the knack of turning anything boring into something exciting. don't leave for davis on saturday, =/

both of u, thank you for being my best friends in the whole world. friendship is an involuntary reflex. it just happens. you can't help it.

before i go, i need to document this hilarious exchange we had:
aaron: seb is very atheletic, he runs at something like 20km/h
seb: -beams-
darian: i drive at 120km/h...ha! i win!
